  • Can administer via IV or IM routes
  • Rapid onset of intubating conditions
  • Short duration of action
  • Does not accumulate in lipid stores
  • Metabolism entirely to inactive metabolites
  • Not dependent on renal or hepatic function for its metabolism
  • Does not cross the placenta

  • No bronchospasm or histamine release
  • Low propensity for anaphylaxis
  • No arrhythmogenic potential
  • No increase in ICP or IOP
  • Non-depolarising mechanism of action
  • No alterations in serum electrolyte levels
  • Safe for use in children and pregnancy
  • Safe if intra-arterial injection or extravasation occurs
